Engine, Transmission, and Drivetrain
The Trailblazer features a choice of two engines, the standard 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder or the optional 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder. The 1.2-liter engine provides 137 hp, and the 1.3-liter ups the ante to 155 hp. The 1.2 liter is only available with an FWD drivetrain and continuously variable transmission. In contrast, the 1.3 liter has the option for AWD and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 1.2-liter engine provides 29MPG in the city, rising to 31MPG on the highway. The 1.3 liter with FWD also provides 29MPG in the city but raises highway driving to 33MPG. If you choose the AWD option, there’s only a slight reduction to 26MPG in the city and 30MPG on the highway.
Interior
The Trailblazer’s interior is modern and fresh, with attractive textures. The interior is spacious and provides even more space than you’d expect. Passengers sitting in the rear seats can also look forward to plenty of leg and headroom. Higher trim levels add chrome embellishments and colored trim sections for an even more pleasing finish.
The infotainment system features an easy-to-use 7″ touchscreen that’s both fast and easily viewed. Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are standard features, together with satellite radio, two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a six-speaker stereo system. You can add optional features like a seven-speaker system, an 8″ touchscreen, wireless charging, and an HD radio.
Cargo Space
Space is a very important consideration in an SUV, and the Trailblazer provides 25.3 cubic feet of space with the seats up, and 54.4 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded down. The Trailblazer also allows you to fold the front passenger seat flat if you need space for a larger item you’re carrying. A manual lift gate is standard, and you can upgrade this to a hands-free power lift gate.
Towing
Another great feature of the Trailblazer is its towing ability. Most medium-sized SUVs can’t tow, but the Trailblazer has an optional towing package that you can install. With this package, your Trailblazer is rated to pull up to 1,000 lbs, which is approximately the size of a small teardrop trailer.
