The 2020 GMC Terrain features a new handsome cabin and a set of impressive standard safety features. Add in improved engine performance and more cargo area; the Terrain is a great small SUV in its class.

  1. Interior

The Terrain comes in two-rows with five seats. The front seats have comfortable cushioning and ample space, and you can improve on this comfort with optional power adjustments and heated seats. They allow you to choose between warming only the bottom cushion or the bottom and seatback together. Heated rear seats are optional.

The interior’s build quality is good, and most materials are of premium quality, especially with the upper-level SLT. The interior is mostly leather, but you’ll also find a few hard plastics.

  1. Infotainment, Connectivity, and Navigation

This GMC now offers one of the best infotainment systems in the small SUV class. The interface is straightforward and very easy to use. All models come with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it easy to sync your tablet or smartphone.

There are many charging options on hand with up to six USB ports, including a USB Type-C. You get additional connection options with the standard Wi-FI hotspot, which is faster than your regular cellphone service. All models are available with a seven-speaker Bose sound system.

  1. Engine Performance

The Terrain comes with two engine options: A 1.5-liter engine that can produce up to 170-horsepower. There’s also a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that can produce 252-horsepower. Both engines are turbocharged and paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

While the base engine can handle basic tasks for around-town driving, the 2.0-liter engine offers slightly better performance. It provides quicker acceleration and is required if you want to tow more than 1,500 pounds. The Terrain can tow up to 3,500 pounds, which is impressive for a small crossover SUV.

  1. Gas Mileage

The new Terrain has a fuel economy rating of 26 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Terrains equipped with the larger engine get 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

  1. Safety and Features

The 2020 Terrain received an overall safety rating of five stars out of five from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It also earned five stars in the frontal and side crash tests. This is a testament to the quality of materials and build of this model.

The new GMC offers many more safety upgrades, though some are only available in the Denali trim. The options include:

  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Forward collision warning and lane-keep assist
  • Lane departure warning and distance indicator
  • Front pedestrian braking and automatic high-beam headlights
  • Also standard are a rearview camera and the Teen Driver system

The new GMC Terrain has many likable qualities with a comfortable cabin and an extensive list of standard features. To learn more about this new model, contact Toliver Brothers today!
