2023 Chevrolet Colorado in Ballinger, TX
The Chevrolet Colorado is a capable midsize pickup truck that offers good handling, strong towing capacity, and a comfortable interior. Apart from an updated exterior and interior, the new Colorado offers added active safety features and a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine.
Trim Levels
The 2023 model year introduces the third generation of the Colorado nameplate. The new Colorado is also wider and longer than its predecessor. The truck comes with a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase and a shorter front overhang for improved approach angles. You can choose from attractive exterior paint options such as Radiant Red Tintcoat, Nitro Yellow Metallic, and Glacier Blue Metallic. Five trim levels are offered: the Work Truck, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. The Trail Boss trim is new for this year. The base trim comes with 17-inch steel wheels, all-season tires, and a CornerStep rear bumper. A remote locking tailgate and 17-inch aluminum wheels are added with the LT trim. The new Trail Boss trim features 18-inch aluminum wheels, all-terrain tires, and black recovery hooks. With the Z71 trim, you can expect LED headlamps and taillamps, LED fog lamps, and red recovery hooks. The off-road-ready ZR2 trim comes with an aluminum performance skid plate and rocket panel protector and a tailgate with built-in lockable and watertight storage.
Engine
For the new model year, the V-6 and diesel engine options have been replaced with three different variations of a turbocharged 2.7-liter engine, which is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine delivers 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. With the Z71 trim, you receive a 2.7-liter Turbo Plus engine, which generates 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. An even stronger iteration of the same engine powers the ZR2. It generates 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
With the new Colorado, you can customize your truck's performance with up to five selectable drive modes. These are Off-Road, Terrain, Baja, Tow/Haul, and Normal. An off-road performance display monitors the truck's driving performance in real time.
With an available wider chassis that offers aggressive approach and departure angles, the new Colorado is ready for off-road action. If you're an avid off-roader, opt for the ZR2 trim, which is equipped with a high-performance lifted suspension and segment-exclusive Multimatic DSSV dampers. Those who like desert excursions should go for the special-edition Desert Boss package.
Interior
The cabin of the new Colorado has received a significant upgrade. All models come with a 11.3-inch touch screen infotainment system that provides wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Other interior updates include a redesigned steering wheel and instrument gauge cluster. Available interior features include keyless open and start, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad, and a sunroof.
Safety Features
All Colorado trims are equipped with the Chevy Safety Assist safety suite. This comprehensive suite consists of advanced driver-assist features such as automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, and lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning. You also receive forward-collision alert and a following distance indicator.
